The beginning of The Whale Library immediately typifies the book. The essence of the story, its fairy-tale character and its publication as a picture book are appealing to young children, but the sometimes heavy, abstract language and underlying themes make it primarily suitable for adult readers. They can, however, read the book aloud to children in their own words or with the necessary explanation.
The Whale Library is an impressive picture book for older readers that combines a story with the depth of an ocean with illustrations to dive into.
Fact:
The Whale's Library is a reworking of a children's book published by scriptwriter Zidrou in 1996 with illustrations by Merveille: The Whale and the Pirate. That book had a completely different aim: it wanted to encourage children to return borrowed books to the library in time.
